More Good News...2009 Starts Off With A Bang

The Financial markets were closed for New Years Day Thursday January 1st, but opened with a bang January 2nd. Giving what I consider the second piece of good news for 2009.

Good news is what we like around here. Investors breathed a sigh of relief that a lousy 2008 is over and showed some optimism that 2009 is going to be better.

A positive end came on Wednesday to one of the worst years on record. The Dow lost 33.8% last year, which is the third worst in history. It's predecessor 52.7$ in 1931.

Analysts and investors are showing some optimism that Wall Street will recover in 2009. But any recover will depend on many factors, including what kind of economic stimulus package Congress approves and just how bad the recession is.

The Dow finished up 258.30 or 2.94% pushing it back over 9,000. The S & P 28.55 and the NASDAQ 55.18.

Looks like Wall Street has a new resolution: A better 2009. What's your New Year Resolution?
