What Should Come First: The Decicit or Job Growth?

From Darlene Superville at The Associated Press: Obama: Cutting deficit as important as job growth

Trimming budget deficits is as important as creating jobs to sustain the economic recovery, President Barack Obama said Saturday.

The government reported the economy grew at an annual rate of 5.7 percent in the final three months of 2009.

"A sign of progress," Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address. "But as we work to create jobs, it is critical that we rein in the budget deficit's we've been accumulating for far too long."

"pay-as-you-go" rules that were placed in the 1990's led to surpluses...after Congress eliminated the rules, Obama said the result was the 1.3 trillion deficit.

"Reinstating this law will help get back on track, ensuring that every time we spend, we find somewhere else to cut," said Obama.

I am all about paying down debt, but the I think job growth needs to come first. Bring in the money and the taxes will pay the deficit. What do you think?
