How do I Determine What to Sell Valuable Assets For?

Day 347 of My Financial Freedom Countdown

We have been doing a lot of early Spring cleaning lately and either getting items ready for a garage sale or to donate. With items we are preparing to sell at the garage sale, we thought it would be a good idea if we checked into value the items we wanted to sell before putting them up sale.

No matter what item you are planning to sell, see what it is worth. For instance if you are selling a car, check a guide like the Kelley Blue Book (http://www.kbb.com/). If it's a piece of jewelry, get it appraised by a certified appraiser. For other household items, check classified advertisements or Craigslist. In preparation for the garage sale we checked on ebay to determine the value of certain items. Besides selling items yourself, you could also use a broker. You can find a broker online who is able to sell just about anything, but use that as a last result as you will have to pay them a percentage.

Whatever you make from your sale be sure to put it towards your debt or towards your emergency fund, if you don't already have one in place. Don't use the extra money to buy more stuff you don't need.
