Who Should I Have Prepare My Taxes?

Here are a few options you have when it comes to finding someone to prepare your tax return:

• Storefront Tax Preparers. This type of tax preparer works for H&R Block, that usually have offices in mini-malls all over the country. Most of these preparers work part0time during tax season to earn extra income. The are trained to ask you the right questions to complete tax returns.
• Accountants. This type of tax preparers have a four year college degree or MBA in accounting. Most of them are accountants for companies and will moonlight to earn extra money during tax season. The usually have an edge over storefront tax preparers because the have an accounting degree and work full-time in the accounting field.
• Certified Public Accountants (CPA's). CPA's are considered the tax professionals in the tax field. If you have tough questions about your tax returns, have a complex return, require year round tax advice, and can help you if the IRS audit you. They are the most expensive, but generally well worth it.
