Wells Fargo Scam from 605-782-5252...Not

I have seen a lot of posts regarding people receiving calls from 605-782-5252 thinking it's a scam. I did not receive a call, but I did receive a letter from Wells Fargo Financial offering a Visa Platinum Card. I figured with the way the credit market is right now it wouldn't hurt to have some extra available credit. You never know when it can come in handy.

With the way things are going with the banks these days you may not be able to get credit when you need it. Although, people discuss the 605-782-5252 number the number on the letter was 1-866-333-6151. When calling the number the operator often answers hello first. The representative will know all your important information. So, they have your all necessary info to process a credit app.

Also, if you accept the offer they will send you a truth in lending disclosure by email and ask you to enter your social security to accept the offer. On Wells Fargo's fraud information page the say they will never have you go to an additional link, but in this case they do. They also say the will never have you input important information like your social, but they do. So, I can see how people can think this is a phishing scam. I have checked this out with Wells Fargo Financial and it is legit and I did recieve my Visa Card. So, anyone wondering if this is a scam stop worrying it's fine.

Wells Fargo does indeed have a scam and it's from that number you listed 605-782-5252. Some idiot called me from that number saying I was approved for a Platinum Visa from Wells Fargo and that he just needed to confirm my information.

I was skeptical and said I wasn't interested but he was so pushy which made me even more suspicious. I said I didn't want a credit card, I don't approve and even asked if this will show up on my credit report - and he said it wouldn't.

Well, not only did I receive the credit card that I didn't want in the mail, but it also showed up on my credit report.

I called Wells Fargo and they were not apologetic - the representative said she's cancel the card and remove teh inquiry from my credit report, but I doubt that'll happen.

Wells Fargo are obviously desperate that they have to scam people into credit cards. Either that, or they need to fire all the jerks who get awarded for all the credit cards they sell.

How is it a scam? From what I have read about this number people thinks it's like indentity theft, but it's not that at all. They are just telemarketing for credit cards. You do get a credit card and it is legit through Wells Fargo. They tell you exactly what you are getting. The number 605-782-5252 is from a Wells Fargo representative. So how is it a scam?
