Should I Gamble When I am in Debt?

[This post is written and copyrighted by Financial Elite (http://financialelite.blogspot.com/ ).]

Gambling when in debt isn't always the best thing to do when you're trying to get your credit back in shape. Living in Las Vegas I am surrounded by it. I have never been a serious gambler and only do it on occasion, usually when family or friends are in town.

I have won quite a bit playing blackjack over the years, but throughout my banking career I have seen so many people lose their paychecks and not able to pay their rent or mortgage because of it I generally stay clear of it. But the other day put $9 bucks in the Megabucks machine.

Nevada doesn't have a state lottery and Megabucks is probably the closest thing to it and starts with a payout of $10 million after each time it hits. Since we were able to hit our goal and follow Dave Ramsey's first baby step of having a $1,000 emergency fund I thought it would OK for me to play the game of chance. It costs $3 a pull, but after two pulls I won $150.

I immediately cashed out and took my winnings and ran. The Vegas casino's were not built on people winning so when you win you need to get in and get out. My intention was to add the winnings to our emergency fund, but unfortunately it needed to go somewhere else.

Later that night I had been checking to see if scrappers had scrapped any of my articles and I did find one site that had scrapped from us plus multiple others, but I also picked up a virus from the site. STAY CLEAR of B de Blogs! They are scrapping from tons of sites and are either intentionally spreading a virus or copied someones content that contained one.

I had to have a computer tech come out to clear the darn thing, but we're good as new now. It just so happened to cost $159. So my winnings came in handy. Things just happened to work out with my windfall and I am in no way suggesting gambling is an answer to your any one's credit problems.

If you think that gambling is the answer to your financial problems you are would be wrong. If you do have a gambling problem and need help you should call 800-522-4700.
